This policy explains what personal data I collect through this website and my photography work, why I use it, how long I keep it and what rights you have. Last updated: October 2026.
Who is responsible for your data?
Photographer Aleksandr Nagornyi, entreprise individuelle (sole trader), 11, Rue de la Gare, L-3322 Bivange, Luxembourg. Email: alex@nagornyi.lu. Phone: +352 661 790 054. Business details are listed in the legal notice.
What data do I collect, and why?
When you visit this website
The hosting server records technical data for each request: IP address, date and time, the page requested, and browser and device information. These logs are used only to run the website and keep it secure (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and are kept for a limited period set by the hosting provider.
This website uses Matomo, an open-source analytics tool, to count visits, see which pages are read and how visitors arrive, for example from a search engine. Matomo runs on this website’s own server, so the statistics are not shared with Matomo or any other company. It works without cookies, IP addresses are shortened before they are stored, no visitor profiles are built and the statistics are not combined with any other data. I use them only to measure the audience and improve the website, on the basis of my legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). This website uses no advertising trackers or social media plugins. Fonts are served from this website, not from external font services.
You can object to being counted at any time with the option below; your choice applies to this browser.
You may choose to prevent this website from aggregating and analyzing the actions you take here. Doing so will protect your privacy, but will also prevent the owner from learning from your actions and creating a better experience for you and other users.
When you send a booking request or contact me
If you use the booking form, write an email or call, I receive the details you choose to share, usually your name, organisation, email address, phone number, the date, venue and type of the shoot, and your message. Requests sent through the booking form are stored on this website’s server and emailed to me; the form does not record your IP address. I use these details to reply, prepare a quote and carry out the assignment (steps before a contract and performance of a contract, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).
When you become a client
For invoicing and accounting I keep your billing details and the invoices issued. Luxembourg accounting law requires me to keep these records for ten years (legal obligation, Article 6(1)(c) GDPR).
When you receive your photos
Finished photos are delivered through private online galleries on images.nagornyi.lu. The gallery service records the access details and downloads needed to deliver the files to you.
If you appear in photographs I take
At conferences and corporate events I usually work on behalf of the organiser, who decides how the photographs are used and informs attendees. As a photojournalist I also photograph public events for press and editorial publication, which is covered by the journalistic exemptions in data protection law. If you appear in a photograph shown on this website and would like it removed, write to alex@nagornyi.lu and I will take it down.

Who processes your data for me?
I use a small number of service providers who process data on my behalf and under my instructions:
- Hostinger International Ltd. (Cyprus): website hosting.
- Google: business email (Google Workspace), where booking requests from this website are delivered.
- PhotoDeck (European Union): private client galleries on images.nagornyi.lu.
Where a provider may process data outside the European Economic Area, the transfer is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision. I do not sell personal data and do not share it for advertising.
How long do I keep your data?
| Data | Retention |
|---|---|
| Booking requests that do not lead to an assignment | Up to 2 years after the last contact |
| Client correspondence and assignment details | For the duration of the working relationship, then up to 3 years |
| Invoices and accounting records | 10 years, as required by Luxembourg law |
| Website visit statistics (Matomo) | Up to 25 months |
| Delivered photographs | Kept in my professional archive; client galleries can be removed on request |
Your rights
You can ask me to access, correct or delete your personal data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to receive your data in a portable format. Where processing is based on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Write to alex@nagornyi.lu; I will reply within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Luxembourg data protection authority: Commission nationale pour la protection des données (CNPD), 15, Boulevard du Jazz, L-4370 Belvaux, cnpd.public.lu.
Changes to this policy
If the way I handle personal data changes, for example if I start working with a new service provider, I will update this page and the date above.
